Don’t Panic! Facebook to support new Internet Safety Code.
Facebook is to add Panic Buttons to its site to enable children to immediately flag up inappropriate and obscene material.
The world’s largest social network is one of 140 organisations to sign up to the UK’s new voluntary internet standards to be launched on Tuesday, reports The Sunday Times.
The guidelines, to be drawn up by the UK Council for Child Internet Safety, will put parents in control of how their children use moderated services including chat-rooms, instant messaging and search.
The guidelines, recommended by the UK Government’s online safety adviser Tanya Byron, will be supported by a UK-wide advertising campaign aimed at children, parents and children.
