Facebook and Google enters URL Shorteners market

You may think bit.ly have conquered the URL shorteners market, but now it seems two tech giants Facebook and Google is gonna make some difference.

Facebook seems has been rolling out their own URL shorteners with fb.me for it's mobile users. Facebook users posting a link shared from a mobile device now will be automatically shorten to fb.me links. It is also pointed that the link also work for redirecting to users profile and Fan pages. For example, fb.me/kureng will be redirected to facebook.com/kureng.

Google on the other hand limit its URL shorteners to it's own products like Feedburner and Google Toolbar. Google's version of URL shorteners comes in a form of goo.gl and not yet available for public usage. It's landing page only shows some of the features that we haven't see it yet.
