I came across an
interesting article by John Gruber at Daring Fireball. It seems major newspaper sites and weblogs are now implementing a
feature to track if you are copying and paste their content to any other places. It uses
Javascript from Tynt to amend what have you copied and add the original link to the article together with a tracking code, so that they can track back where the copied content being shown on the internet. This basically an analytic tracking method for their contents, even though most of these sites are quoting from others.
For certain people, these feature are annoying, especially for John Gruber since most of his blog post include a quotation of article from other sites. While John has explained ways to avoid this annoyance, I think I would like to add one more effective way to prevent the copy/paste breaker JavaScript. Since I am a loyal Firefox user, I stick to
Firefox solutions to avoid this annoyance. You will need the
AdBlock Plus add-on installed first, select its option from the Add-on menu. To prevent the JavaScript, just add new filter
||tcr.tynt.com and apply.
I have tried this, an its working. No more amendments to your copied contents. Try it yourself and let us know.
